Fatherhood and Picture Books

Yes, it has been quite a long time since I’ve written anything new. There are a number of good reasons for that. Additionally, I’ve taken a good number of blog posts, short stories, and more off the site as well.

It’s time for a fresh start. You know?

These last three months have been, for a lack of a better way of saying it, tumultuous – a bit of a roller-coaster ride.

And yet, I was saved by a beautiful little angel.

On 11/25/2019, I was rescued by a beautiful little angel, Rilee, at 10:49pm.

A flood of emotions came rushing through the moment I saw that beautiful little face. There are no words that can describe my love for this little munchkin the moment she was born. She has her mother’s lovely little smile and button nose.

Anxiety coursing through my veins since Sunday night, it wasn’t until late Tuesday evening until I was able to get some rest. Every moment I spent at home catching up on work and other tasks, the stronger my separation anxiety had become. This little angel is due to come home Thanksgiving Day. To say the least, she is at the top of a long list of what I’m grateful for this year.

Over The Creek crowd-funding campaign sadly did not reach its financial goal in a 30-day campaign period, but there’s still some good news. A local publication whom exclusively publishes children’s books asked for me to submit the completed book to them. Within an hour, a copy was sent in.

Now, the waiting game.

This book was inspired by Rilee’s beautiful mother, a teacher, mere days after finding out that I’m going to be a father. Now that the book is completed, Rilee has been born, I can only pray the book will be accepted and published by the first publication it was sent in to.
