⭐️ Day 9 Prompt: Tuesday Teaser: Post A Short Snipper of Your WIP ⭐️

It’s Day 10 of #AuthorAugust22, a prompt series by @mariahankenman!

Great question!! About ten years ago, I was part of an online writing forum (yes, those still exist). There, I would write a few paragraphs, then post them on the proper forum channel for feedback. However, in recent years, I’ve been holding off on feedback until after I’ve completed a draft.

Why?

I was constantly editing as I wrote. That sucked! Why it took me so long before I started writing the entire draft first, I couldn’t tell you. These days, I only let a few people read any completed drafts. But I might open that up for more people soon, though.

Waiting until I’ve written a complete draft has been excellent practice for me. As I said, I was constantly editing as I wrote. Perfection. I was a perfectionist. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; it only took me much, much longer until I finished a “draft”. And paying for a professional editor was out of the question. These days, I still struggle with editing as I write, but it’s not as bad as it once was, thankfully.

How about you?

Do you like feedback as you go or after your first draft?
