Writing Update
Something, something, blog post, something something, writing update.
Where Is My Mind?
Seriously. Where is my mind?
It’s 8:21am. I don’t know what to write for this blog post. Well, that’s half a lie. This post was to give an update on how my writing was going. Nothing. I’ve spent more time watching other writers on tiktok than in my own writing. I’ll just use the excuse I was away on vacation. Even then that will only go so far since I haven’t written anything in the weeks leading up to the vacation dates either. It’s 8:25am now.
My daughter is in my lap, playing ABC Mouse on my phone. I should get her a tablet so she doesn’t have to use my phone.
It’s 8:29am.
While on vacation recently, I stopped in at Powell’s City of Books in Portland, Oregon. I picked up a few books, including The History of the Kings of Britain. I sat in my recliner yesterday for several hours reading as much as I could; instantly hooked. While reading through the first 87 pages, I felt a rush of inspiration for how I should craft my current fantasy novella.
It’s 8:35am.
In other news, I’m in the research phase of opening up a pop-up bookstore. I’ve so far discovered that many successful independent brick-and-mortar bookstores started out as a pop-up first. Cool, right?
Unfortunately, there are zero independent brick-and-mortar bookstores in my rapidly growing city. There’s only the controversial Barnes & Noble location and two libraries – one of them with a used book section you can purchase from within the library.
Anyways, that’s it for now.

Hmm. What should you know about me? I wonder. AHA!! I got it! I…(a few hours later)… am the author of the picture book Over The Creek (2019). I like blogging. I’m a professional procrastinator (oh, come on – all of us are). Oh, and I am a proud father of a really cool daughter. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be here writing weird posts and posts about books and writing related stuff.
Writing advice? Um. Let’s see…my advice would be … poof!! … cliffhanger!!
